波風を立てる

Berikut ini salah satu contoh idiom dalam bahasa jepang

波風を立てる ("namikaze o tateru")

Arti kalimat ini yakni "membuat gelombang ombak" yang dalam bahasa inggris "to make wave/to rock the boat"  mengguncangkan kapal dan membuat ombak.

Makna dari ungkapan ini yaitu mengatakan atau melakukan sesuatu yang menyebabkan orang lain marah (membuat masalah).

上司は、僕を金融部門のシニアマネージャーに昇進させ、売り上げに貢献してほしいと思っている。僕が昇進を承諾する事も期待している。もし僕が辞退したら、波風を立てる事になるだろう。

I think my boss wants to promote me to a senior manager in the financial department and contribute to the sales of the department and he expects me to accept it. If I decline my promotion, I'll rock the boat.

(Thomas is worried about James because he doesn't look so good)

元気ないね。ジェームズ、大丈夫？

You look upset. Are you okay, James?

大丈夫。ただ上司に怒鳴られただけ。

I'm fine. It's just I got yelled at by my boss.

My boss ordered me to meet all of our client's demands, but some of their requests are completely unreasonable. So I had to tell him about it.

君の気持ちは分かるけど、この時期は特に忙しいから、皆神経質になっているし、波風を立てない方がいいよ。

I have so much housework to do everyday and now my mother in-law advised me to make more balanced meals for Ryan.
